Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Customer services company Ascensos has announced that it is to expand its workforce with the opening of a new site in Clydebank. The company, which is headquartered in Motherwell, will open the new site north of Glasgow in October. The move will see the creation of 350 jobs in the initial recruitment phase. A further 250 jobs are planned for 2017. The new jobs are a result of a new contract with DIY retailer B&Q. Ascensos will provide telephone, email and web support. It already handles B&Q's social media platforms.
UPDATE 13/12/2016:Ascensos has announced the creation of a further 160 jobs at its contact centre in Clydebank. The jobs follow the opening of the centre in 2016 and will add to the approximately 300 staff currently employed on the site. The company showed strong growth throughout 2016 and with this announcement of further jobs for 2017, this growth seems set to continue.
