Description
The BBC has announced plans to restructure its monitoring department as part of a drive to reduce costs across the organisation. In total there will be a net reduction of 98 jobs, but not all of these will come from UK offices. As part of the restructure offices will open in Turkey and in Israel and the Afghanistan office will be closed. 65 jobs are to be cut from the UK's headquarters in Reading, which currently employs 320 staff. It is understood that mandatory consultation with trade unions will begin imminently. There is no report as yet of when the job losses are expected to take effect.
