Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
British supermarket company Tesco has announced that it will create 200 jobs at its new distribution centre in Komorniki near Poznań. The centre is expected to be operational in fall 2016 (October/November 2016).
It will be the third distribution centre of Tesco in the country; another two are located in Gliwice and Teresin near Warszawa. The unit will supply articles to 140 Tesco stores located in the northern and northwest part of the country.The facility will enable Tesco to reduce the mileage of its trucks by 12.9%, which in turn will reduce CO2 emissions by 6.7%.
Tesco has been operating in Poland since 1992 and currently operates over 400 stores in the country and employs nearly 30,000 people.
Update 25/11/2016: Currently, the company plans to create 420 positions, an additional 220 employees will be hired. The centre was opened on 4th November 2016.
