Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Italian state-controlled road management group Anas has announced the intention to hire 1,000 people between 2016 and 2020 as part of its 2016-2020 business plan. The new positions will be mainly for blue-collar workers tasked with repairing and building roads (900), and, to a minor extent, engineers and managers in charge of directing works (100).
The company plans to carry out EUR 20bn of investments to repair regional and provincial roads and to reopen dismissed routes, especially in Southern Italy.
In addition, Anas has announced the merger with Italian railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), which should be completed by the end of 2016-beginning of 2017. The merger is expected to be implemented without dismissals.
