Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French PSA Peugeot- Citroen manufacturers based in Trnava will create about 800 new jobs from 1 January 2017. The expansion is attributed to the increasing demand for cars that are produced in the Trnava plant: the Peugeot 208 and Citroen C3 Picasso. According to available information, demand for these models increased by 19% in 2015. Moreover, a new model of the C3 Picasso will also be launched at the site. These jobs are to be created using a new form of work organisation based on working on Saturdays and Sundays in four working shifts. It is expected that employees who agree to work in this time schedule will earn about 70% of the standard salary of full-time employees working standard hours. According to an external survey conducted by the Company, the scheme appears to be popular among staff, and almost one third of the 3,500 respondents expressed their interest in working on Saturdays and Sundays.
