The Swedish Police Authority in Police Region South, a region which encompasses the counties of Skåne, Blekinge, Kronoberg and Kalmar, is in total recruiting 151 new employees. Two recruitment campaigns are active simultaneously. The Regional Police Authority is recruiting 55 employees to work in its contact centres. Of these 55, 40 will work at the contact centre in Malmö and 15 will be work at the contact centre in Kalmar. The new employees will handle reports to the police and at times take a first statement from the individual reporting a crime to the Police. The new contact centre employees will start their training in September and be ready for work in October. In addition, Police Region South is to recruit 96 new individuals to work with various civil matters within the authority, these new employees will work as receptionists, engage with planning of personal resources and with investigatory work.
The increased work-load in the Police Region South is due to the new border controls towards Denmark. The new employees working with civil matters will enable more police officers currently engaged with investigatory work and personal planning to be able to work more effectively in their sector, for example, in border control. Police Region South has been given extra funds to make the recruitment of new employees possible.
Police Region South had a total of 5017 employees at the end of 2014.
