Description
On 28 June, the management of Veolia, a company which specialises in water treatment and management, announced to its Central works' council that they intend to initiate a voluntary departure plan which will resul in 430 job cuts in France. The company will open negotiations on the content of the plan with employees representatives by 13 July. The water division of Veolia has been affected by the financial crisis, which has forced some municipalities and local authorities to renegotiate water service concession or to take over this activity on their own. Veolia has already signed a social plan in July 2014 affecting 2,225 jobs in the same activities. The former plan includes 1,417 internal job transfers and 808 voluntary departures. The new voluntary departure plan is part of a cost saving framework of €600 million between 2016-2018 intending to restore the competitiveness of the group.
