Description
German health insurer DAK announced plans to cut 1,600 jobs throughout Germany. The third largest health insurer suffers from decreasing number of members due to high additional contributions. The company lost some 180,000 insured persons since the beginning of 2016. According to the company, restructuring measures have become necessary due to immensely high administrative costs and smaller sites may thus face closure. Labour union Verdi wants to save as many jobs as possible and attempts to avoid dismissals due to operational reasons.
DAK Gesundheit, headquartered in Hamburg, currently employs a total of over 10,000 employees in Germany.
