Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pizza company Domino's has announced plans to create 9,400 new UK wide jobs in anticipation of increased demand particularly around the time of the European Football Championships and Olympic Games. It is expected that 7 million pizzas will be sold during the European Championships alone. The company intends to open 65 new stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2016 and will add staff to existing stores. In addition to the UK jobs, there will be 600 positions created in Ireland. The majority of the job creation will be in the London and South East areas, though there will be jobs created across the UK. Recruitment for the new positions has already started. A range of roles are available including drivers and pizza chefs. It is being reported that these jobs are permanent and will last beyond the summer.
To tie in with the start of the European Championships, the company has launched a media campaign headed by former England football manager Kevin Keegan.
