Description
German technology provider Bosch will shut down its site in Neunkirchen, specialised for emission systems, by the end of 2017. The plant was built two years ago and currently employs about 200 employees. As reason for the closure Bosch mentioned the immense costs for the production of emission systems. Costs increased due to the withdrawal of main customers. A total of 100 employees can move to the company's site in Homburg and Bosch attempts to offer the remaining employees other jobs within the company.
Moreover, Bosch announced plans to cut 160 jobs at its site in Homburg by the end of 2018. Affected employees are working in the area of mobile applications. The company already made an announcement in 2015. However, dismissals due to operational reasons are to be avoided.
Bosch, headquartered in Gerlingen (Baden-Wuerttemberg), currently employs around 375,000 staff worldwide. Over 130,000 employees work in Germany. For latest restructuring at Bosch see May 2016.
