Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alpro, a Belgian firm that is part of the American WhiteWave Foods Company and is a producer of soya based food and drink products, has announced a significant investment. It states that in 2016 a total of €115 million will be injected into the Belgian division of the company, mainly to increase production and logistic capabilities. The investment will lead the employment of an additional 130 people, mainly blue collar workers that will be active in either production or logistics. Another €35 million will be invested in facilities abroad. In 2015, Alpro also made a significant capital injection with a total sum of €80 million, and this led to the creation of 200 jobs.
