Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The transport and logistics company, Heppner, has announced the closure of three logistic sites in Saint-Ouen l'Aumône, Brie-Comte-Robert and Strasbourg. These closures will affect around 124 positions within the company: 29 in Brie-Comte-Robert, 32 in Saint-Ouen l'Aumône and 63 in Strasbourg. Management and employees' representatives are currently negotiating a plan that may compromise between the company and employees, and the company states that they are open to solutions that could reduce the number of affected positions. The company has expressed concerns about the possibility of paying premium rates in addition to severance pay.
