Cherno more mine is to close with the consequent loss of 240 jobs in Burgas. The remaining 40 staff will continue working in the mine and they will mainly deal with maintenance and security. The affected employees have staged numerous protests due to their wages being delayed for months. They have not received their February wages but they have been assured that they will receive compensations.
The Ministry of Energy (ME) intends to find a solution with a view to reopening the mine. According to media reports, the ME is to launch soon a tender to find a new investor to whom the mining concession will be granted.
