Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Provider of cargo handling equipment Kalmar, subsidiary of Cargotec, has announced that it will create 200 new jobs at its unit in Stargard. The job creation is due to the transfer of production of forklift trucks from Sweden to Poland; the production will be transferred to Poland within two years. The restructuring programme is associated with the company’s plan to consolidate its assembly facilities in Europe; the programme aims to improve financial and organisational effectiveness of the company.
Kalmar provides cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centres and heavy industry. The company operates in over 120 countries and has 18 factories employing 11,000 people worldwide. Kalmar has been operating in Poland since 2009.
