Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French media division Lagardère Active, a subsidiary of the Group Lagardère, has announced a voluntary departure plan that will lead to the potential loss of 220 jobs. There are 1,800 positions within the affected divisions of the company. Legardère employs 3,500 workers in total. According to Les Echos, the group has lost about 1,000 positions in its media division since 2012 though social plans, selling off newspapers and closure of activities. The media division has progressively reduced its activities in the press (70% of its turnover in 2006 to less than 40% in 2016) and increased its investments into audiovisual media. Some job cuts were reported in the ERM database in 2007 and 2013.
