Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sensus Slovakia, a subsidiary of the multinational Sensus EME&AP, will create 100 new jobs in Stara Tura. The factory has launched the production of the hi-tech water meter iPERL in a new production hall built for this purpose. Production of water meters has a long tradition in Stara Tura, and Sensus has operated there since 2000 when it took over the Slovak Prema Company. iPERL is a new super-modern intelligent electronic device with no mechanical parts, which can quickly detect any water leaks, accidents, consumption or illegal manipulation. Also the consumers will be able to check their water consumption online. The new device was developed in Germany over three years and cost several million euro. The company plans to produce 297,000 iPERL meters annually which will all be exported. According to the company, it has contracts for the sale of these products for the next three years.
