Bombardier Transportation Sweden is to cut 300 jobs following increased international competition. According to the CEO of Bombardier Transportation Sweden the redundancies are a part of a larger global internal restructuring programme and in total 7000 jobs will be cut world wide, 3200 of these within the railway sector. Around 1400 positions will be cut in Germany, and a similar number in the UK. Global product platforms will be adapted to the Nordic market following the internal restructuring and the company will focus on developing the areas in which they have competitive advantages, e.g. signal systems, control systems, steering systems and maintenance.
Bombardier has 1300 employees in Västerås and 2000 employees in Sweden in total.
