Description
Andritz Hydro, global supplier for hydropower plants with headquarters in Vienna, has reduced the numbers of its temporary agency workers from 270 to 117 over the last couple of months at its site in Weiz. A decreasing number of orders was given as a reason for this step. Depending on the economic development in 2016, additional layoffs may take place. The local works council expects that only 50 to 70 temporary agency workers will be kept which would constitute a further decrease in at least 50 temporary agency workers. According to the management, restructuring measures will not affect permanent staff (currently 900 staff).
Andritz Hydro is part of the Andritz Group, an international supplier for hydropower plants, the pulp and paper industry, but also the metal forming and steel industry. The group with headquarters in Graz, Austria, employs 25,000 people worldwide.
