Description
Polish producer of paper hygiene products Harper Hygienics has announced that it will cut 67 jobs (11% of its workforce) in the first half of 2016. The jobs reduction is a response to the company's deteriorating financial results and to the pressure from some clients in relation to the growing role and position of discount retailers in Poland. A possible negative impact on the company's decision might also have been the announcement of the introduction of additional taxation for banks and retailers.
The company estimates that the restructuring programme will save PLN 2-3 million (EUR 671,680 USD 725,364) each year from 2017 onwards. Harper Hygienics has been operating since 1990.
