Description

Following on from European expansion in 2015, in which it created 10,000 jobs across the continent, Amazon has announced it will create at least 3,000 further jobs in Europe in 2016. 2,500 jobs will be located in the UK, 500 in France, and further expansion will also take place in the future across Europe. The jobs in France and the UK will be across all sectors of the business, while those in other countries concentrating in software and research and development, focussed on voice recognition and cloud technologies.

The UK jobs will be spread out across Amazon's London-based Headquarters, R&D sites in Cambridge and Edinburgh, and 10 fulfilment centres (warehouses) across England, Scotland, and Wales, and a new datacentre will be established in 2017. In France, recruitment will be for jobs in headquarters in Clichy as well as distribution centres in Lauwin-Planque, Montelimar, Saran, and Sevrey. These new jobs add to the approximately 40,000 currently stationed in Europe.
