Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Austrian Airlines (AUA), part of the German Lufthansa Group, has announced the creation of 100 new jobs in the upcoming year. Plans are part of a general business expansion at Lufthansa, which seeks to create 4,000 new jobs across the group, as recently reported (EF Lufthansa 2016) . According to newspapers, 100 new pilots will be hired in Austria. Other sources also suggest that additionally, 200 flight attendants will be employed.
The latest job creation announcement took place in 2013. In the previous years the company cut jobs in 2009 (1000 jobs) and 2012 (150 and 341 jobs).
AUA, headquartered in Vienna, currently employs around 6,000 staff.
Update 17/03/2016:
AUA now specified earlier announcements to create new jobs in the upcoming year. According to newspapers 80 pilots and 240 flight attendants will be hired. Overall, AUA plans to train 400 new crew members by 2017.

In a new press release AUA announced that in 2016 a total number of 160 pilots and 400 flight attendants will be hired.
