Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
UCSA, a cooperative group providing logistics services, is to hire about 350 people in a new logistics centre in the industrial area of Stradella (Pavia).
The decision stems from a subcontracting agreement with Zalando. The European e-commerce company is to open the hub, its first one outside Germany, in January 2016, but it will outsource the management thereof to UCSA. This job creation is part of a larger recruitment drive by Zalando that will lead to the creation of about 1,000 jobs across Europe.
The announcement was made directly by the management of the well-known e-commerce firm, which assured that staff will be employed on open-ended contracts.
The centre nearby Pavia is expected to reduce the delivery time to Italian clients, and to supply Austria and Switzerland as well.
