Magnox, the owners of the plant, have confirmed that fewer staff will be required for the new tasks which will be carried out on the site. The job losses mean that the workforce will reduce from 522 to 357 by May 2016. Magnox has confirmed that it will seek to make voluntary redundancies wherever possible.
