Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish airline carrier Finnair is to hire 450 new employees in early 2016. This recruitment campaign is the largest in the company's history. 100 new pilots, 300 new cabin crew employees and 50 new customer service employees will be hired in Finland. Finnair has previously recruited 70 pilots and 130 cabin attendants in 2015 and the company aims to double its traffic from Europe to Asia in 2020 in comparison to 2010. A total of 1000 new job positions are anticipated by the end of 2020. Two thirds of the new employees manning the Europe-Asia flights will be hired from the Finish labour force.
In 2014 ERM reported on outsourcing of 540 Finnair employees from Finland to Hong Kong and Singapore.
