Description

Malmö Municipality has hired 700 new employees to work with unaccompanied refugee children. There is an increased need for such personnel due to the increased volume of refugees migrating to Sweden. The new employees are manning the refugee centres which function as temporary housing for the children. The children remain in temporary housing until they have been registered by the Swedish Migration Board, which can take up to two weeks. In April 73 temporary beds existed in Malmö, in October 1200 beds exist and the municipality is looking into new solutions, like housing refugees on boats.

In response to the large amounts of refugees and unaccompanied refugee children arriving in Sweden Gothenburg Muncipality and Stockholm Municipality have hired a large number of new employees as well.
