Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Girteka Logistics, one of the biggest transport and logistics companies in Lithuania, is to create 2,000 new jobs in 2016. According to the management, after experiencing significant staff shortages and turnover in 2015, the company has started a new employee recruitment and retention strategy that will focus on new staff management policies. The company is expecting that the strategy will help them to employ 2,000 new drivers in 2016.
Currently Girteka Logistics employs around 7,100 employees: 6,000 of them are drivers; around 70% of them are non-EU nationals coming from Belarus, Ukraine and other Eastern European countries.
