Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Der Spiegel, German news magazine, will cut 149 out of 730 jobs in Hamburg by the end of 2016. This job reduction will include 35 employees from the print-edition department, 14 employees from documentation and 100 employees from its publishing house. Since 2007, the Spiegel Publishing house has seen its turnover and profits drop by 19% and 48%. The job cuts, which will not affect the newspaper's online and TV divisions, will mostly be carried out in 2016.
Der Spiegel is a German weekly news magazine based in Hamburg. It was founded in 1947 and currently employs around 1,200 staff in Germany including 730 employees in Hamburg.
