Hovis bakery is reported to be cutting 111 jobs from its site at Wigan, Greater Manchester. The job cuts will come from the bread production line and affect factory floor workers as well as engineers and office staff. The move comes only a few months after 40 jobs were cut and the latest announcement had not been expected, according to the regional secretary of BAFWU (Bakeries and Allied Food Workers' Union). A 45 day statutory consultation period is understood to have started on 26 November though there is no information on when the job losses will take effect.
