Description
Theme park Alton Towers has announced plans to cut 190 jobs. The Staffordshire tourist attraction suffered poor visitor numbers after a high-profile accident on one of its rides in June 2015. The accident resulted in serious injuries and received much media coverage. The site generally employs around 1,000 permanent staff and 1,500 seasonal workers for the peak months. 190 job losses are expected from the permanent staff and the company will also seek to make savings by not filling casual vacancies. A consultation process is expected to begin after employee representatives have been selected.
