German-owned engineering company Mahle has announced plans to cut 170 jobs from its site in Kilmarnock. The company, which supplies parts for the automotive industry, currently employs 400 people at the Ayrshire site. It is understood that the job losses will come from the finishing unit on the site, which is expected to be closed by the end of January 2016. A formal 45 day consultation period has started. A spokesperson for the Unite union noted that the company had previously given assurances about the future of jobs at the Kilmarnock plant.
