Description
Finnish company, Wärtsilä, a provider of power solutions for the marine and energy markets, is to dismiss 160 employees in Finland.
In July 2015, Wärtsilä announced plans to realign the organisation, operations and resources of its Marine Solutions business in response to the currently slow marine services market. The reorganisation may lead to approximately 600 employees being made redundant worldwide, around 160 of them in Finland. The negotiations concern approximately 1,670 employees in Wärtsilä's Marine Solutions business in Turku, Vaasa and Helsinki.
Wärtsilä employs around 17,700 workers globally.
UPDATE 14/12/2015. Negotiations were concluded on the 13th of November and resulted in a total of 110 jobs cut in Finland, 50 jobs less than previously stated. 50 jobs could be saved through temporary dismissals. Most jobs will be cut in the city of Vasa, where 45 blue-collar jobs and 53 white-collar jobs will be cut. From the 23rd of November and onwards dismissals will be announced to the workers.
