Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish manufacturer of tools for kitchen and garden, Fiskars, has started employer-employee negotiations concerning all 130 workers at the company's site in Helsinki, Finland.
Fiskars stated in a press release that due to increased competition and the demanding economic situation, the production of ceramics in Finland has not been able to remain financially sustainable, despite previous investments.
The ERM reported on a previous case of restructuring at the company in 2012.
Update 24/3/2016:Following concluded employer-employee negotiations on the 2nd of November 2015 in total 120 employees will be let go at Fiskars factory in Helsinki.
