The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Finnish game developer, Rovio Entertainment, has announced plans to cut up to 230 positions in Finland out of a total workforce of 260 .
The planned reduction amounts to more than a third of the company's entire workforce. The aim is to restructure and concentrate the company's activities on games, media and consumer products. The company CEO stated that, while 2015 has been a good year for the company, "[...] fundamental changes are needed to ensure Rovio succeeds in its global ambitions to be the leading entertainment company with mobile games at its heart".
In 2014, the ERM reported on another restructuring case at Rovio, with 110 redundancies.
Update 2015-11-04: Rovio Entertainment has concluded employer-employee negotiations and decided to cut 198 jobs in Finland and 15 jobs abroad.
