Description
Slovenska Industrija Jekla, SIJ (Slovenian Steel Industry), with its main base in Jesenice in the Gorenjska region, is the largest Slovenian steel producer and ranks among the top positions in the European and world niche steel markets. The group has 22 affiliated companies in Europe and the USA, and employs around 3,150 people in Slovenia. In 2014, SIJ had 707.8 m EUR in revenue, a 7% increase in comparison with 2013. Profitability also significantly increased. SIJ is owned by the Russian Koks group and is planning 70 m EUR in new investments this year. These will serve to increase the production of duplex stainless two-layer sheet metal and launch the production of piping systems, primarily for the oil and gas industry. For this reason, SIJ will increase employment by 100 new jobs over the coming year.
