Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Car manufacturer Skoda Auto, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, has announced that it will create at least 100 new jobs at its Kvasiny plant due to the launch of two new sport utility vehicles (Škoda SUV and Seat SUV). Recruitment is to start at the end of the year 2015 and the production is scheduled to start in March 2016. The Kvasiny plant currently employs roughly 4,500 people. As reported, hundreds of new jobs will be added by 2018. Škoda Auto operates three sites in the Czech Republic (Mlada Boleslav, Kvasiny, Vrchlabi) with about 25,000 staff in total. In addition, more than 150 000 employees are working with suppliers of Škoda Auto.
