Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The management of CPP Europe has announced the closure of its aluminium foundry Microcast at Adé near Lourdes (Hautes-Pyrénées). The plant, which had suffered a fire in December 2014, is a supplier for the aerospace and defence industry and Formula 1. It employs about 138 people. Some 96 employees have been dismissed mid-July and another 42 will dismissed as of November. The production activities will be transferred to another French plant of the CPP Europe group near Chateauroux (Indre), where alternative positions will be offered to 25 dismissed employees. Already placed in liquidation in 2007, Microcast was taken over by the CPP Europe in 2008.
