Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Spanish rail services firm, Renfe, will hire 150 workers in 2015. Workers will be employed across different departments from train drivers to commercial staff. This is the first recruitment drive since the onset of the economic crisis. In 2013, the company announced 350 dismissals, which were implemented in 2014. At present the company employs 14,500 workers, with an average age of 54 years.
