Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Spanish supermarket retailer Eroski has agreed with the trade unions a labour adjustment plan affecting 284 employees. 178 jobs will be cut through direct dismissals and 106 employees will be given the opportunity to get alternative positions within the companies of the Eroski group. Dismissed workers will get compensation of 30 days salary per year of service, up to a maximum of 18 monthly payments. Negotiations on the restructuring began on 11 June, after the company applied for the collective dismissal procedure.
