Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Baur Fulfillment Solutions (BFS), subsidiary of German mail order company Baur, will cut 138 jobs in Burgkunstadt. According to the company, this step is due to the fact that a contract between BFS and Fressnapf has been cancelled by Fressnapf in June 2015. BFS previously conducted service transactions for Fressnapf, including customer contacts, storage, shipping or payment management. BFS currently has 1,500 employees; around 4,200 employees at Baur and 3,759 employees in Upper Franconia.
Fressnapf is a German franchise company for pet food. The company was founded in 1990 in Erkelenz and later moved its headquarter to Krefeld. The company runs 1,400 stores across 12 European countries with more than 10,000 employees (called Maxi Zoo outside Germany).
