Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS) announced cutbacks in training programmes making many of its trainers and course instructors redundant. The AMS has already reduced its training staff by 500, compared to 2014. According to trade unions further 1,500 jobs could follow. Trade unions criticised this step as unemployment rates are currently at an all-time high in Austria and they call for the establishment of a work foundation (Arbeitsstiftung) for affected trainers. A rally and staff meetings in adult-education companies were annunced for 2nd June in Vienna.
