Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Freight transport company Bomex is to cut about 112 positions out of a total workforce of 540 employees. The restructuring will involve the voluntary departure of 98 drivers and 14 forced dismissals affecting staff in the support and repair functions. The job cuts will be implemented across five sites: Saint-Géréon (Loire Atlantique), Mortagne-au-Perche (Orne), Vesoul (Haute-Saône), Cognac (Charente) and Le Havre (Seine-Maritime).
The company was placed in receivership in December 2014and it is expected to present a plan to pursue its activity to the commercial court by end of June. The court could grant an additional observatory period of another six months or declare the bankruptcy of the company that will lead to its closure.
