Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Mayenne Foundry, a company specialized in casting of metal, has been put into liquidation and as result 110 employees will be dismissed. The company was placed in receivership in January and put into liquidation by the Laval Commercial Court on April 29th. The liquidation procedure will be carried out until May 29th, after which 110 employees will lose their job. Several potential buyers have shown interest in the company which has a 2 million Euro buy-out clause, but no offers have been placed yet. Some former employees want to create a cooperative company to take over the site.
