Description
Supermarket chain Morrisons has announced further major restructuring plans. The changes will result in the loss of 720 jobs from its headquarters in Bradford. It has been reported that a consultation phase has begun over these job losses which are to bring about a 'simplified management structure'. The changes come following the appointment of a new chief executive, David Potts, who took up his role a month previously. The company will be offering some voluntary redundancies and may redeploy some people to other parts of the business, though it is understood that due to the locations of the oportunities, the possibility for relocation may be limited. As part of the restructuring Morrisons has also announced that it is creating 5,000 vacancies for shop-floor staff and recruitment for these positions has started.
This announcement follows a recent announcement by the same company in March 2015 and follows a major restructuring mainly affecting management grades announced in April 2014.
