Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Peel Ports has announced that it is to begin recruitment as part of its plans to create 500 new jobs at a new 300 million GBP deep water container terminal. The company will initially recruit 90 staff, with approximately 75 of these within a three month period to July 2015. The new jobs cover a range of positions from port operators, project managers and planners to IT staff and sales executives. The company has released a statement noting that it wants to attract the best possible people for these new positions and it hopes that as many as possible of the new recruits can be found locally, from the Liverpool City Region. It is not yet known when all 500 staff will be in place.
