Deutsche Accumotive, a German manufacturer of battery systems, will extend production at its site in Kamenz and create 140 jobs. The company aims to double the number of employees by 2016 because of an expected increase in demand for battery systems based on lithium-ion for automotive applications.
Most of the new employees are expected to move from the affiliated company Litec Battery to Deutsche Accumotive. The first 38 employees have already switched company, others are to follow soon. Litec produces lithium-ion cells that were previously used in the batteries of the German Accumotive and will cease cell production by the end of 2015.
Deutsche Accumotive is a subsidiary of automotive supplier Daimler and employs around 140 people.
