Description
Call centre operator Firstsource has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs in North East England. The positions are understood to be both full and part-time and will be split between the company's sites in Middlesbrough and Sunderland. The new jobs are being created after new contracts have been won from a major telecoms company and also a UK-based bank. It is not known when the new positions will be filled. The company which is headquartered in India employs around 26,000 globally in India, the Philippines, the USA and the UK. The new jobs represent a revival of the company in the North East; in 2012 the company cut 500 jobs from its Middlesbrough and Thornaby sites.
