Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Slovak Railway Casted Components (RCC) is to dismiss 200 employees at its factory in Prakovce. Due to crisis in Ukraine the firm has problems with selling its products, stated RCC Director General, Irina Mileva. Financial difficulties resulted in not paid wages for several months. The company might have to return the state subsidy worth EUR 10million, which was provided by the Slovak Government for supporting the creation of new jobs. The company management is looking for options to retain the remaining 150 employees and assist the dismissed employees in finding jobs in the mechanical engineering sector in Slovakia.
