Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sony Mobile Communications has announced that they will cut their workforce in Lund by 1,000 employees in a group-wide restructuring process which was announced by Sony in Febuary. The site in Lund employs a total of 2,200 people at present. Sony Mobile Communications has already initiated employer-employee negotiations. Municipal and regional authorities have announced that they will coordinate to assist the leaving personnel as much as possible.
Sony Mobile Communications restructured their operations in Lund in 2012, when two events were reported to the ERM (see announcements 27-03-2012 and 23-08-2012).
Update 05-06-2015:
It has now been settled that Sony Mobile Communication will cut 975 jobs. 400 of these are consultants.
