Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sunderland-based logistics company, Vantec, has created 250 new jobs. The jobs follow the opening of its 421,000 warehouse and an increase in business from various engineering, manufacturing and auotmotive companies. It is understood that the jobs have already been filled and the recruitment was conducted in partnership with a back-to-work scheme. The scheme was co-ordinated by Gateshead College and designed to train jobseekers who had some previous logistics experience. The programme has already placed 300 jobseekers into work.
