West Midlands-based car parts manufacturer, Car Parts Industries UK, is understood to be cutting 180 jobs and relocating production to Poland. The company, which is located in Wednesbury, currently employs 260 staff, meaning that the plans will result in a reduction of about 70pc. The Unite Union has confirmed that a statutory 45 day formal consultation period has begun, and a spokesperson for the union has suggested that the decision to relocate has already been taken. The union is reporting that job cuts are the result of crude measures to reduce costs.
